Thorold Country House has a classic, timeless, rustic appeal from the exterior with wide verandas opening onto manicured lawns to the pool and the delightful subtropical garden oasis. The views from the property extend to the Coromandel Hills and the Firth of Thames.

We offer welcome refreshments on arrival with tea, home made cakes and biscuits.

The guest lounge in the main house has an open stone fire, beamed ceilings, antique furniture and is a delightful large tranquil room. It has one set of patio doors opening onto the terrace overlooking the swimming pool and another which opens onto the lawns and gardens. There are several seating areas to relax after a swim and we also serve breakfast either poolside or on the terrace. We provide a delicious full cooked breakfast, including fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juice from our orchard.

Guests are most welcome to wander around our lovely gardens. In the orchard there are lemons, oranges and grapefruit to pick. If you would like to have a walk through the paddocks, we would be happy to take you around the property and meet our friendly sheep. We also have a dairy farm nearby and we are happy to take guests to see this working farm.

We enjoy entertaining and welcome guests who want to enjoy a special 3 course evening meal featuring home-raised meat, freshly caught fish, home baking, our own and locally sourced produce. Dinner is available by arrangement, at $55 per head including wine and liqueurs. If dining out, please join us for complimentary coffee and liqueurs when you return home. Speciality diets are catered for.

There is a second guest lounge in the house with Sky TV, video, DVD and stereo system. There is a varied selection of classical board games for guests to use as well as a huge library of books on wide ranging subjects and of course NZ covering history, native trees, flowers, birds, wine, scenery and our local area. Current magazines and newspapers are also provided for guests as are complimentary refreshments of tea, coffee, home made cakes and biscuits.
